Smith Warner was sub-contracted by Caribbean Coastal Services Ltd (CCS) to carry out coastal engineering investigations focused on developing an appropriate design for a new beach as part of the Baha Mar development. SWIL carried out the work in two phases. Phase 1 involved the preliminary engineering study and was completed in 2008. This phase involved data collection and investigations of the prevailing coastal processes. These included analyses of wave and current patterns within the bay towards developing an understanding of the sediment transport regime. Following the resumption of the project SWIL was contracted to carry out the final design works for the
beach, and COMAR to construct said designs.
