The Japan-Caribbean Climate Change Partnership (J-CCCP) was launched to support the implementation of climate-resilient and low emission technologies in a participatory and efficient manner. The initiative targeted eight Caribbean countries, including Jamaica, with UNDP implementing the project.
The first step in the J-CCCP engagement was to conduct a Baseline Assessment. As the in-country adaptation expert, Smith Warner International collected baseline data, consulted local stakeholders and used GIZ’s Stocktaking for National Adaptation Planning (SNAP) Tool to develop a Baseline Assessment of Jamaica’s national adaptation planning process.
The Baseline Assessment report formulated recommendations for the J-CCCP work program in Jamaica, building on current national actions and donor interventions, and identified strategic actions for advancing Jamaica’s adaptation agenda. Recommendations were developed for policy-level interventions and for community-based pilot projects that contributed to the J-CCCP outcome – to promote low-emission and climate-resilient development.
