The Government of Jamaica received funding from the EU through the ACP-EU Grant ‘Strengthening Disaster Risk Management and Climate Resilience in Jamaica’s Development Planning Process’, whose primary objective is to support the strengthening of Jamaica’s DRM Framework. The culmination of this initiative is captured in a key objective for this study, which is to; Support national policy and institutional development relating to coastal resources, natural hazards and climate related impacts and sustainable development. This will be done through the review, consolidation and update of priority guidelines and regulations into an integrated and more coherent package, which will establish linkages between existing sector specific policies and ocean and coastal zone issues.

  • These Guidelines are presented to provide a tool for coastal management, developers, and planners.
  •  These Guidelines look to compliment Vision 2030 Jamaica.
  •  At the community level these Guidelines aim to provide advice on ensuring coastal management is undertaken in a sustainable way with consideration of wider impacts on the environment and communities.

A  fully integrated team (incorporating world class experts from Mott MacDonald, Sustainable Seas, Smith Warner International and CARIBSAVE) has extensive experience both locally and internationally in a wide variety of environments and projects and were selected to undertake this project.
