Detailed Design and Engineering Work named Project of the Year 2018

This project incorporates a dedicated cruise ship berth next to the existing cargo berth, a lateral access boardwalk from this berth east past the Ocho Rios Cruise Terminal and through the main town, and a new fishing village west of the Island Village Complex. This village houses retail shops, a restaurant, a public entertainment area, storage facilities for the fishermen and a widened beach for boat haul-up. SWI developed options, carried out stakeholder engagement, coastal process numerical modelling, preliminary engineering, impact modelling of the final layout, contaminant impact modelling, morphological modelling, extreme wave condition modelling, EIA and detailed engineering of the requisite coastal structures. This project was awarded Project of the Year by the Jamaica Institution of Engineers in 2018.
